It all depends on your definition of each. Cobain connected well wih his audience and thats my definition of an entertainer. But he was an average guitarist and not even close to the others mentioned. To mention him in the same sentence with EVH, Paul gilbert, SRV, EJ, Satch or Vai is really an insult to them all.

I think its more a matter of an average guitarist and great musician.........a great guitarist can play their instrument well etc.......a great musician can affect and connect with people with their music......I would say Kurt Cobain was good at that

I wouldnt say that technically Vai isnt in these guys leagues......but I will give Eric Johnson the prize for possibly being the God of chordal music.......he is amazing......he could write the worlds most epic solo out of E, A and D chords.

Eric is a brilliant guitarist, he uses so many techniques in his improvising its unbelievable, he can play sweet chords or a lightning fast solo
