Jimi Hendrix himself said it about his music, so I don't see no reason why some sick motherfuckers are speaking shit about SRV. They are only showing Jimi Hendrix in a bad and wrong with that kind of a retarded attitude, where SRV did it well covering some of his songs, doing justice to him and doing it in a good way. That is something that Jimi would definetely approve, but stubborn fans concerned only on comparing music and disregarding other musicians that cover his music? Never!

I'm a fan of Hendrix and since I am a musician I know that he was an excellent songwriter and guitarist. He revolutionized what everyone thought about music with his style and knowledge of musical theory. I do appreciate your attempt to "defend" SRV but actually you are doing him no good; he did more than "pure blues" and had the "luxury of straying from that formula", too; you probably missed the fact. And that "limited framework of pure blues" is actually so unlimited in its greatness and provides so many possibilities...and Stevie explored them with such brilliance...I can't believe there are people who can miss the essence of BLUES and ruthlessly underestimate it....

Hendrix did TONS of covers and I personally dislike most of them; Hey Joe and Watchtower are good though. As for this particular "cover", it's amazing; it's been praised and prized; it's so good that it's been even re-covered by other renowned guitar players...all one needs to do is to listen and hear....
